How do I get an article from a journal that Arnold Library does not subscribe to?

How do I get an article from a journal that Arnold Library does not subscribe to?

I need a couple articles from _____ and _____ but unfortunately Arnold Library does not subscribe to these two journals. How I do proceed to acquire these articles?

Answer

No problem--all you need to do is submit an interlibrary loan (ILL) request for each article, and we'll take care of the rest!

  • If the articles have PubMed records, there is an easy way for you to submit an ILL request to the library right from the PubMed record:
    • Access PubMed via this link. (I recommend bookmarking this link, as it will help you get to any of the full text that the library does subscribe to)
    • Do a search for the article.
    • On the article's PubMed page, look in the upper right hand corner under the "Full text links" heading, for a Full Text at Fred Hutch button button; click it.
    • Partway down the resulting page, you'll see a link to "Request it from the Library's Document Delivery/ILL Service"; click it.
    • Enter your HutchNetID & password to log into ILLiad (if this is your first time using ILLiad you will be prompted to fill out a short one-time registration form).
    • An article request form will pre-populate with data from the PubMed record. Feel free to add any other information to the form and click the "Submit Request" button at the bottom of the page.
  • If the articles do not have PubMed records, you can enter a request manually for each one after logging into ILLiad.
