FAQ+A

Why is it important to register for an ORCID?

Answer

ORCID is a nonprofit organization helping create a world in which all who participate in research, scholarship and innovation are uniquely identified and connected to their contributions and affiliations, across disciplines, borders, and time.

ORCID is part of the wider digital infrastructure needed for researchers to share information on a global scale. ORCID enables transparent and trustworthy connections between researchers, their contributions, and affiliations by providing an identifier for individuals to use with their name as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities.

As more funders, publishers and institutions start integrating ORCIDs into their workflows, having an ORCID will enable data to sync automatically between systems, and reduce manual effort currently required to manage and track research.
